social change project
sooo girls....in class i mentioned a couple ideas about increasing scholarships or even giving stipends for say books or something for students who progressively are doing well at Siena. Many people come in with a scholarship and they can easily take it away if we do bad but what about them giving an incentive for students to continually do better? Not only will this make the school look better because the students may work harder but also it may help out the students in the end with getting jobs and getting into grad school easier. Another thing I mentioned was setting up some type of system to buy and sell books between students. This could be done through some type of website (like a craigslist setup). Alot of books I knwo especially for a business major you have to buy them new unless you search otherwise on the internet. Why not help out your fellow classmates by paying maybe 10-15 dollars less than what they bought it for. This way the student selling the book gets more money back than they would in a book store buy back and the student buying it gets it for cheaper than paying full price for a new one and in some instances a used one. I think this would also help to create a sense of community between students. tell me whatcha think!

I think the book idea is great. Students would save a lot of money and it would help kids to get closer with the community. Also i think the scholarship idea is really important. I think we just have to figure out the best way to help students.
